Unprecedented 2024: Three Major Threats in Korea and the Role of National System

Date : 2024. 3. 26 (Tue) 09:30 ~ 17:00

Location : Grand Ball Room, FKI Conference Center

| Purpose

Professor Robinson, who collaborated with Professor Acemoglu (MIT) in writing “Why Nations Fail (2013),” has strongly claimed that the rise and fall of the nation are determined by the system, not because of geography, climate, and culture. What kind of threats are we facing now, and what does the 2024 General Election mean to us?

TV Chosun has selected three major threats: “Populism Economy, Polarized Politics, and Unstable International Relations.” Is it possible to overcome populism and take a step towards sustainable development? Is it possible to overcome polarized politics and encourage unity within the public? Is our system resilient enough to react to the re-election of Donald Trump and the rapid international shift? In short, how should we change our national system considering these threats?
